What: In a major shocker for the Congress party in Goa today 8 of its 11 MLAs joined the ruling BJP. With this, the party is reduced to a mere of 3 MLAs in a house of 40 MLAs. Former chief minister Digambar Kamat led this group of MLAs joining BJP.
Congress statement: Party spokesperson Pawan Khera stated that "We knew this could happen.The BJP used all kinds of tactics — central probe agencies, threats by goons, lure of money — to do this, because it is rattled by the Bharat Jodo Yatra."
BJP's statement: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant gave a statement saying thaty: "Now a 'Congress Chhoro Yatra' has begun from Goa." He said the MLAs wanted to work under PM Narendra Modi's leadership, for development of Goa.
