International Yoga Day; India’s Soft power

What: On 21 June, International Yoga Day is celebrated across the globe. Years ago during the first term of PM Modi in the office. The Indian government moved a resolution to mark 21 June as the International Yoga Day.

Why: Yoga is a traditional Indian practice which is believed to discipline human mind, body and soul. This years theme is ‘Yoga for Humanity’

Globally: Indian soldiers at Siachen glacier marked the day by performing different asanas. Further different countries also marked the day by hosting special yoga sessions.

President of 76th UNGA Session Abdullah Shahid said that that yoga is all about unity, connecting the mind, body and spirit.
