
Govt. releases strict norms to prevent misleading ads
What: On Friday, the Union Consumer Affairs Ministry of India released strict guidelines to put a curb on misleading advertisements. This move will decrease advertisements that target children or make free claims to woo customers.
Due diligence required: The guidelines specify special due diligence to be carried out while endorsing advertisements.
Surrogate advertisements: These guidelines will also prohibit surrogate advertisements and bring transparency to disclaimers in ads.
