Govt and big personalities facing criticism after recent tweets

  • Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray stated on Sunday that the government should not have “asked” big personalities like legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and former batsman Sachin Tendulkar to tweet their support on the ongoing issue and put their “reputation” at stake.

  • Raj Thackeray stated that the agitation is against the government policies and not an issue of national interest.

  • “Many people (celebrities) have reacted sharply to the stand taken by the farmers. My suggestion to Sachin Tendulkar is he should be cautious while commenting on fields other than his domain” stated Sharad Pawar, Chief of National Congress Party after seeing Sachin Tendulkar’s tweet.

  • The former cricket team captain had tweeted “India’s sovereignty cannot be compromised. External forces can be spectators but not participants. Indians know India and should decide for India. Let’s remain united as a nation. #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda

  • The Farmers have been carrying out protests on different borders since November 26th 2020 in the national capital against the three farm laws, namely Framer’s Produce Trade and Commerce Act 2020, the Farmers’ Empowerment and Protection Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
