Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday stated that she has been denied a passport. The passport office cited a report of the Jammu and Kashmir's Criminal Investigation Department, which had refused to give a go ahead.
"Passport Office refused to issue my passport based on CID's report citing it as 'detrimental to the security of India. This is the level of normalcy achieved in Kashmir since Aug 2019 that an ex Chief Minister holding a passport is a threat to the sovereignty of a mighty nation," she stated in her tweet.
The letter from the passport office stated that the application for her passport, which had been filed in December last year, had been sent for police verification and had received a negative report from the Police.
Reportedly, the former CM had been kept in detention for more than a year and is currently also being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.
