The governmenthas named V Anantha Nageswaran, a former Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (PMEAC), as the next chief economic advisor (CEA).
The move comes ahead of the Economic Survey and Union Budget.
The government has filled the position after K.V Subramanian was demitted to office.
The position has remained vacant since December 2021.
The IIM-Ahmedabad graduate, Nageswaran, currently teaches International economics, exchange rates and financial markets at business schools in India and Singapore.
The post of CEA in the finance ministry is the key contributor to the government’s role in regulating the economy.
The panel received ten to fifteen applications up to November 15.
