Glacier in Antarctica gets named after Glasgow

• In honor of the Scottish city hosting the high-level United Nations Climate Summit a glacier in Antarctica has been named Glasgow glacier.

• The University of Leeds named the glacier, which has been rapidly melting away, to mark the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

• British PM Boris Johnson stated, “By named this glittering giant of nature after the city where humankind will gather to fight for the future of the planet, we have a stark reminder of what we are working to preserve”.
