The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army will take over as the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee until the Union government appoints a new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
The death of the former Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat initiated a comeback to the previous system where the senior chief among the three services was the then Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee.
In the new system, the new CDS General Naravane will be reported by the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC).
The CDS will take over command and control of the tri-service training, utilize resources, logistics, and transport.
During the tenure of the former General Rawat initiated catheterization of the military and his successor will likely take the former CDS’ vision forward.
