Gal Gadot face backlash over tone deaf tweet

• Gal Gadot, an Israeli-born Hollywood actress, took to Twitter last week and released a statement on the recent violence between Israel and Palestine.

• The actress wrote, “My heart breaks. My country is at war. I worry for my family, my friends. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long. Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation. Our neighbors deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families, I pray for the unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we could live side by side in peace. I pray for better days.”

• The actress was called out by many users for not acknowledging the suffering of Palestinians. Many stated that her statement was tone deaf and many took offence to the fact that she used the word “neighbors” instead of referencing Palestine by name and even criticized her for being a propaganda took for Israel.

• Many fans and public figures such as Sen. Ted Crux, R-Texas came to the actress’ defense.

• Gadot later turned off her comments on Twitter due to the backlash.
