
Free vaccines and food grains will cost Rs 1.15 lakh crores extra in FY22
Following the Prime Minister's annoucement on Monday to provide free vaccines to all citizens above 18 years, starting June 21- is going to cost the government an additional Rs 15,000 crores.
This would be in addition to the Rs 35,000 crores amount already allocated for vaccine in the Budget of Financial Year 2021-22.
A senior government official told the Indian Express, that although the final stats aren't there yet, but the amount to be spent on vaccines this year- would be around Rs45,000 to 50,000 crores.
In addition to this, PM's decision to extend the scheme of providing food grains for free to 80 crore people, till November- will also cost an additional Rs 1-1.3 lakh crore.
