Former UP Governor faces sedition charges over his remark on UP CM Yogi

  • Former Uttar Pradesh Governor Aziz Qureshi faces sedition charges, of which he has been charged of by the UP Police. This is for alleged derogatory remarks against the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

  • The FIR was registered because of a complaint filed by the BJP member Akash Saxena at the Civil lines police station in Rampur on Sunday night.

  • Qureshi was in UP to meet Samajwadi party's Azam Khan's wife and later on while addressing the media he is alleged to compare the Yogi government with 'demons'.

  • Akash in his complaint also stated that Qureshi's remark is getting traction on social media and therefore, can leas to enmity and tensions between the two communities.
