Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and singer and Congress candidate Sidhu Moosewala were today booked for violating the model code of conduct two days before the state assembly polls.
This comes after both of them visited a temple in Manasa and conducted door-to-door campaigning in the constituency on Friday evening.
Post 6 pm on February 18, the Model Code of Conduct was in place in Punjab- where elections are scheduled for February 20, Sunday.
On the complaint of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a case has been filed under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for violating the model code of conduct against Channi and Sidhu.
