• A new variant of COVID-9 has been discovered by scientists and experts in France termed ‘IHU’.

• It has been stated that this variant is a more mutated strain than Omicron.

• Nearly 12 cases of ‘IHU’ have been reported near Marseilles and have been linked to the African country Cameroon, according to reports.

• Academics at Institute IHU Mediterranee Infection identified the B.1.640.2 or IHU variant and is said to contain 46 mutations, more than Omicron.
