
Find out what the new variant of COVID-19 ‘IHU’ is
• A new variant of COVID-9 has been discovered by scientists and experts in France termed ‘IHU’.
• It has been stated that this variant is a more mutated strain than Omicron.
• Nearly 12 cases of ‘IHU’ have been reported near Marseilles and have been linked to the African country Cameroon, according to reports.
• Academics at Institute IHU Mediterranee Infection identified the B.1.640.2 or IHU variant and is said to contain 46 mutations, more than Omicron.
• Scientists have said that this variant can be a major threat and is not labelled as ‘variant under investigation’ by the WHO because the cases have not been reported in countries other than France.
