Find out the developments at today's all-party meet on Afghanistan

  • The Centre on Thursday called for an all-party meeting to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, formerly an important Indian ally, after the Taliban takeover.

  • External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar briefed the members of all the parties on the situation prevailing in the country and the response India has to the situation.

  • The government described the situation in Afghanistan as critical and stated that the Taliban has broken the conditions and promises of the Doha agreement.

  • EAM stated that India's priority was to evacuate all Indian nationals safety and safety of the diplomatic personnels. Providing assistance to Afghan nationals in distress.

  • Among other things, the Doha pact, inked between the Taliban and the US in February 2020 called out for religious freedom and democracy in the country along with a government in Kabul representing all sections of society.
