Find out all details about 'Kavach', indigenous train collision protection system
On March 4, the Government launched 'Kavach', which is an indigenously train collision system.
The indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system has been built to help the Railways achieve the goal of "zero accidents". The government has stated that this the world's cheapest collision prevention system.
The system is aimed at bringing a halt to a train automatically the moment it senses another train on the same line within the prescribed distance.
Once implemented, it will cost Rs 50 lakh per kilometre to operate compared to about Rs 2 crore worldwide, the government has stated.
