Find out about the world’s happiest man

• A 66-year-old Tibetan monk named Matthieu Ricard is said to be the world’s happiest man.

• Ricard participated in a 12-year brain study on compassion and meditation which was led by Richard Davidson, a neuroscientist from the University of Wisconsin.

• Ricard said that he sometimes meditates for days on end without getting bored and admits that he is generally a very happy person.

• Ricard’s advice on how to be happy comes from altruism. He stated, “It’s not the moral ground. It is simply that me, me, me all day long is very stuffy. And it’s quite miserable, because you instrumentalize the whole world as a threat, or as a potential sort of interest [to yourself]”.

• It is believed by Ricard that every human being has the ability to have a lighter mind because there is a potential for goodness in everyone.
