Finance Ministry releases ₹13,386 crores to 25 states

  • On Tuesday, the Finance Ministry of India released ₹13,386 crores to 25 states as grants to the rural local bodies.

  • These grants will help rural areas take all the necessary prevention and mitigation measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • These grants are meant for all the three tiers of Panchayati Raj Institutions - village, block, and district.

  • The 15th Finance Commission of India recommended the government for providing grants to the rural local bodies.

  • “The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, has on Monday released an amount of ₹13,385.70 crore to 25 States for providing grants to the Rural Local Bodies,” the ministry said in a statement.
