Anil Deshmukh, former Maharashtra Home Minister was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate late on November 1. The arrest took place after Deshmukh was questioned for more than 12 hours by the ED.
Former minister was arrested under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act, in connection with a money-laundering case linked to an alleged extortion racket in the state police establishment.
As per reports, Deshmukh will be opposing the ED's appeal for a remand on November 2.
Deshmukh appeared before the agency after the Bombay High Court last week refused to quash ED summonses against him. He had skipped at least five ED notices.
