Dharam Sansad Hate Speech Case: Court rejects Narasinghanand's Bail plea

  • Yati Narasinghanand, the head priest of the Dasna temple in Ghaziabad, was denied bail by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Haridwar on Wednesday.

  • The seer was detained on Saturday (January 15) evening and sentenced to fourteen days in judicial jail for making offensive statements about women and alleged hate speeches during the Dharam Sansad convocation. New accusations were filed against the seer on Sunday for abusing a journalist and cameraman.

  • He was charged with violating sections 295 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 509 (intentionally insulting the modesty of any woman), 323 (voluntarily causing harm), 504 (insult intended to provoke breach of peace), and 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, and other factors) of IPC.
