Delhi HC vacated an order stay on reservation of 80% ICU beds for COVID patients in 33 Pvt hospitals

  • On Thursday, the Delhi High Court vacated an order that had left the course of the Delhi Government to 33 private hospitals to reserve 80 per cent of ICU beds for patients with COVID-19. [GNCTD vs Healthcare Providers' Association (India)]

  • The presence of a network of Nodal Officers who can ease the reservation norm for the 33 private hospitals and juggle the ICU beds between COVID-19 and non-COVID19 patients was also taken into account by the Division Bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad.

  • The court heard the appeal of the Delhi Government against the stay order passed in the petition favoured by the Association of Healthcare Providers (India) by a single judge, Bench of Justice Navin Chawla.
