Delhi HC seeks affidavit from DU on details for holding annual convocation for students

  • The Delhi High Court requested an affidavit from the University of Delhi concerning the timetable and process for the annual convocation of its students (Dhritiman Ray vs University of Delhi).

  • Bench of Justice Prathiba M Singh, a single judge, also requested information on the deadlines for reporting reports, issuing digital/paper marksheets and transcripts, issuing digital/paper degrees, issuing provisional degrees, and sending data to Digilocker.

  • The order was passed by former DU students requesting issuance of degrees on an immediate basis in a batch of petitions.

  • Since July 2020, the Court has been overseeing the procedure of granting degree certificates to DU students because, due to the absence of printing facilities and paper, it withdrew the varsity for failure to grant degree certificates.

  • The Court had ordered DU to file an affidavit finding it derisory and inexcusable, explaining how they wanted to streamline the process of awarding degree certificates.
