Delhi HC questions AAP govt's claim that 3rd wave peak is over; says it contradicts data

  • The Delhi High Court said on Thursday (Rakesh Malhotra vs GNCTD) that claims by ministers and high-ranking officials of the Delhi government that the third wave of COVID-19 infection has already peaked in the national capital contradict the data on regular registered cases.

  • The observation came in response to the stance of the Delhi Government that the fifth Sero-Surveillance was yet to be conducted as the region was already reeling under the third wave of contamination with COVID-19.

  • The court dealt with the petition by lawyer Rakesh Malhotra (Petitioner) about the pace and status of the city's COVID-19 testing.

  • The court asked the AAP-government to find out on the last day of the hearing the particular measures it had taken to ensure strict adherence to the requirements of wearing a mask, keeping social distance, hospitalisation of patients suffering from COVID-19 infection, etc.
