Delhi HC grants bail to riot accused in UAPA case

  • The Delhi High Court today granted bail to a riot convict who given a SIM card used by the Jamia Coordinating Group, claiming that the Delhi Police's argument was nothing but blank claims of witnesses. (State vs Faizan Khan)

  • The order was passed by Justice Suresh Kait's Single Judge Bench.

  • In the case surrounding the plot that led to the riots in the capital's North-East district in February 2020, bail applicant Faizan Khan was arrested by Delhi Police.

  • The case charges the commission of crimes under the Illegal Activities (Prevention) Act. As per Delhi Police, One of the charge sheet accused Asif Iqbal Tanha and Faizan Khan acted in connivance with each other and executed preparation jobs for the commission of the unlawful acts   The particular accusation against Faizan was that, while serving as the approved Airtel representative at a store named Golden Contact, he triggered the SIM card.
