Defence Ministry buys 11 airport surveillance radars

  • On Thursday, the Defence Ministry of India signed a deal with Mahindra Telephonics to buy 11 airport surveillance radars for the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard.

  • An official statement has been released by the ministry.

  • These radars will help in increasing awareness about aircraft activities in the sky.

  • It will also enhance safety and efficiency in the flying operations of the Navy and the Coast Guard.

  • These radars are more advanced than the conventional ones.

  • "The procurement, at a cost of Rs 323.47 crore, will be made under the 'Buy and Make' category," the statement noted.
