Deepika Kumari secures the position of world’s no. 1 archer

• On Monday, star Indian archer Deepika Kumari regained the position of number one in global rankings following her hat-trick of gold medals at the World Cup.

• The 27-year-old is said to have achieved the number one spot for the first time in 2012.

• She won gold medals in three events on Sunday- women’s individual, team, and mixed pair.

• World Archery, after Deepika’s win tweeted, “This is going to take Deepika to the number one spot in the world rankings on Monday!”

• Deepika stated, “This is the first time I’ve won all three medals in the World Cup. I am really happy but at the same time, I’ve to continue improving as we have very, very important competitions lined up.”

• Deepika became the only second Indian woman to grab the numero uno status, after Dola Banerjee, in June 2012.

• Deepika will be the only Indian woman archer representing the country at the Tokyo Olympics next month.
