Dawood's Nephew Denied Bail in Extortion Case

  • The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to grant bail to the nephew of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in a case filed against him in 2019 for alleged threats made to a builder under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).

  • Justices MR Shah and BV Nagarathna instructed the trial court to establish charges in the case, and then permitted Dawood's nephew to reapply for bail.

  • The appeal against the Bombay High Court's Dec 2021 ruling dismissing Mohammed Rizwan Iqbal Hasan Shaikh Ibrahim Kaskar's bail application was dismissed.
