Crop loss, railway services cancelled as Cyclone Jawad hits West Bengal and Odisha

  • Heavy rains lash the southern parts of West Bengal, and Odisha as cyclone Jawad weakens to form a depression and continues to move towards the North-Eastern states.

  • The wind speed reaches up to 40-50 Kmph along the coast of West Bengal as per the observations made by the Met department.

  • The cyclone has affected the Paradip port in Odisha. The state has faced significant crop losses due to the depression formed by cyclone Jawad.

  • The fishermen along the coastlines of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal are advised not to venture.

  • The East Coast Railway will resume its services from today after the cyclone weakens to become a depression.
