Covid reduced life expectancy by 2 years in India, finds out study

• A study by the Institute for Population Studies (IIPS) found out that due to the Covid pandemic, life expectancy in India reduced by 2 years.

• IIPS professor Suryakant Yadav, who authored this report, stated that life expectancy at birth, for both men and women.

• “The life expectancy at birth in 2019 was 69.5 years for men and 72 years for women, which came down to 67.5 years and 69.8 years, respectively, in 2020,” states the report.

• The report stated that Covid has claimed the maximum lives of people in the age of 39-69 years.
