A court in Assam's Barpeta district on Friday granted bail to Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani, who was detained for allegedly beating a female police officer while in detention. The state police were chastised for filing a "false FIR" and "abusing the court and the law."
The High Court should consider ordering "every police officer involved in law and order duty to wear body cameras," according to the report.
Her version did not match the details in the FIR, the court found on Friday.
According to a PTI report, Mevani claimed that his arrest was the result of a "plot" planned in the Prime Minister's Office.
