Construction of New Parliament to start next week

• Prime Minister Modi will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of New Parliament building next week.

• Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla officially met the Prime Minister at his residence and invited him for the ceremony.

• The new building will constructed in a triangular manner by Tata Trust which had bagged the contract at ₹893 crore. According to officials the construction is set to be completed in a year’s time. The old building was constructed by Edward Lutyens and Herbert barker and due to over use and space constraint the construction of new parliament complex was recommended.
