Prime Minister Modi will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of New Parliament building next week.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla officially met the Prime Minister at his residence and invited him for the ceremony.
The new building will constructed in a triangular manner by Tata Trust which had bagged the contract at ₹893 crore. According to officials the construction is set to be completed in a year’s time. The old building was constructed by Edward Lutyens and Herbert barker and due to over use and space constraint the construction of new parliament complex was recommended.
