Constitution day 2021

• 26th November is celebrated as the Constitution Day because it was on this day in the year 1949 that the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it later came into effect on 26th of January 1950.

• 2021 marked the 72nd anniversary of this historic event.

• PM Modi wished the citizens of India on Twitter. He tweeted, “Best wished to our citizens on Constitution Day. On this special day, sharing a pat of Dr. Ambedkar’s speech in the Constituent Assembly on 4th November 1948 in which he moved a motion for adoption of the Draft Constitution as settled by the Drafting Committee.”

• In his address in Central Hall of Parliament PM Modi said, “Constitution Day should have been celebrated each year after 1950 to educate all about what went into the making of the Constitution. But some people did not do so. This day should also be celebrated to evaluate whether what we do is right or not.”
