CJI sends formal proposal to setup National Judicial Infrastructure Authority to Government
According to information supplied in the Rajya Sabha by Union Minister of Law and Justice Mr. Kiren Rijiju, CJI NV Ramana has sent a formal proposal for the establishment of the National Judicial Infrastructure Authority of India (NJAI) to provide suitable infrastructure for courts.
In addition to identical structures under all High Courts, NJAI is envisaged to act as a central authority in putting out the road map for planning, creation, development, maintenance, and management of functional infrastructure for the Indian Court system. The governing body's Patron-in-Chief will be the Chief Justice of India.
The proposal has been given to the various State Governments/UTs, as they are a key stakeholder, for their feedback on the plan's contours so that a more informed decision may be made.
