China proposes pullback at Pangong; India considers offer

  • Almost more than six months after there emerged a border dispute between neighbouring India and China, at the LAC on north bank of Pangong Tso, China has proposed a pullback strategy, which India is now considering.

  • The pullback suggestion by China proposes that it will move its troops to Finger 8 and a pullback of the armies of both the nations to their original position before the border issue.

  • It further includes moving back of tanks and artillery back to the depth areas by both the sides so as to reduce chances of any incident in the region.

  • Till now there have been eight rounds of Corps commander meetings between the two armies to resolve the issue. On November 6, there was also a meeting just between the Commanders of the two armies.
