China makes a major reshuffle in border command of army

  • A year after both India and China engaged in deadly clashes at Galwan valley, both the sides have been taking several steps to mount their military strategies, whether be it building roads, infrastructure or a reshuffle of army ranks

  • On Tuesday, China’s President Xi Jinping has replaced the head of the military’s Western Theatre Command which borders India, appointing a new General to lead the military’s biggest command.

  • General Xu was appointed as the General of Western Command and becomes the third person to be appointed to the post after the Galwan clashes. Notably China and India have been holding commander level talks and successfully agreed to disengage at Pangong Tso lake region however the two countries still need to agree on disengagement in Hot springs and Gogra.
