China launches bullet train near Arunachal Pradesh
In a major contentious development China has launched its first Bullet train in Himalayan Region of Tibet connecting the provincial capital Lhasa and Nyingchi, a strategically located Tibetan border town close to Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh.
The railway line of 435 km long has been inaugurated ahead of the hundredth year anniversary of Communist Party of China.
The first electrified railway in Tibet Autonomous Region opened Friday.
Notably The Sichuan-Tibet Railway will be the second railway into Tibet after the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. It will go through the southeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, one of the world's most geologically active areas.
The project will no doubt have significant ramifications for Indo-China border relations
