China and US in the war of words over Lithuania

• Weeks after Lithuania allowed Taiwan to open its trade office in the country under its own name and rejected 'One China Policy' China has responded sharply to the same

• “The United States has instigated the Lithuanian authorities to undermine the one-China principle,” said a foreign ministry spokesman, Wang Wenbin. “It has supported, aided and abetted them in going further down the wrong path to achieve its political calculations to contain China.”

• Further, it accused the US of trying to contain China over the Taiwan issue by instigating Lithuania

• China has repeatedly warned Taiwan of drastic measures if it provokes independence, suggesting a possible militarily forced integration into the Chinese mainland
