• External Affairs Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar is expected to hold several high-level meetings during his 3-day visit to Tajikistan

• The Minister is visiting Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe for the Heart of Asia conference. Heart Of Asia, a regional initiative launched by Afghanistan and Turkey in November 2011, is one of the rare forums focused on Afghanistan that includes both India and Pakistan. The initiative includes 15 countries, including China, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Central Asian states such as Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.

• The minister is expected to present India’s road map of Afghan peace process. Importantly he has also held a meeting with Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani on the same issue.

• Interestingly Mr.Jaishankar has said that India backs a UN-led ceasefire initiative.
