Centre postpones meeting with farmer unions to Jan 20

  • The tenth round of talks between the Centre and the farmers' unions that was originally scheduled for the January 19 has been rescheduled and postponed to January 20 by the Central Government.

  • Announcing this, Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Tomar stated that the farmer union leaders were asked to submit draft stating their demands, addressed to the Centre and he also stated that it will consider this with an 'open mind'.

  • In the nine round of talks, there has been no concrete decision that has been arrived at, between the farmer leaders and the Centre.

  • Seperately, on Monday, January 18- the Supreme Court in adjourned the Centre's petition filed by through the Delhi police to Wednesday. It stated that farmers' tractor rally in Delhi was a law and order issue and the court could not address this.
