Centre approves the second phase pink line metro extension in Kochi
After the announcement of union budget 2021 on Monday in the parliament by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The union budget this year allocated ₹1,957 crores for the phase two of pink line metro extension in Kakkanad district of Kochi.
For a very long time this metro project was overdue but now as mentioned in the union budget the 11.2 km long Kakkanad (info park) metro extension will get a pink line. This has been approved by the central government and for this, the fund will be allocated as mentioned in the Union budget 2021.
The route from Jawaharlal Nehru International stadium and terminus at Infopark is the extension to Kakkanad pink line metro.
The phase two metro pink line will provide connectivity between the city hub and the expanding IT hubs in Kochi. This metro route line will also connect the residential areas, district headquarters to the industrial and SEZ areas in Kakkanad district.
According to the Alkesh Kumar Sharma the Managing director of Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), he said: " the plan is to make 27 km long Aluva - Thripunithura phase as one metro corridor and there will be 11 elevated metro stations in the corridor this will connect the city to the silver line".
