CCI fines Maruti Suzuki for violation of competition norms
On Monday, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) fined India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki of ₹200 crores, for violating competition norms.
Maruti Suzuki has been fined for maintaining a discount control policy that prevented its dealers from providing further discounts.
If the dealers wanted to give additional discounts to their customers, then they would have to compulsorily seek prior approval from the company.
The CCI found this discount control policy to be anti-competitive and therefore fined the company.
