Canadian PM speaks up in support of Indian farmers

  • Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a video message while extending Gurupurab greetings to the Sikh community across the world spoke on the farmers protests that are raging in India and have caught the attention of the International community.

  • Mr. Trudeau mentioned that the protests were "concerning" and Canada will continue to defend the right of peaceful protests

  • He also said, "we believe in importance of dialogue and that is why we have reached out through multiple means directly to the Indian authorities to highlight our concern"

  • The MEA responded to the statements by Canadian leaders as "ill-informed" and "unwarranted" further many political leaders from BJP, Shiv Sena mentioned the need of refraining from commenting on issues that do not concern them as it is India's internal issue.
