Canada to welcome 1.3 million immigrants for its post-pandemic economic growth

  • Canada has announced plans to create favourable conditions for its post-pandemic growth.

  • The country is now looking forward to welcoming 1.3 million immigrants in the country.

  • Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has aimed to add 431,000 permanent residents in the current year and 447,000 permanent residents in 2023.

  • The Indian community in Canada consists of Canada's biggest nationality, with permanent resident status consisting of forty per cent of the permanent resident applicants.

  • The host expects that 56% of new immigrants will come using economic class pathways like Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program and Temporary to Permanent Residence (TR2PR) streams.

  • The Provincial Nominee Program will be one of the main admissions programs for economic class immigrants under the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) status.
