What began as an armed rebellion by some disenchanted army men, developed into a takeover by the military junta
Burkina Faso is surrounded by Ghana, Mali, Niger etc and is prone to terrorist attacks by Al-Qaeda and Islamic State militants
The declaration of a coup was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba and read by another officer on state television, the announcement said the takeover had been carried out without violence and that those detained were at a secure location.
