A day before the sixth round of talks between the farmer unions and the centre are scheduled to be held, Union Home Minister Amit Shah invited farmers for talks today evening.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at 7pm, for which farmer leaders have received an invite. This indicates that the government is now engaging with the farmers at the top most level.
Today marked the Bharat Bandh call by the farmers, which they termed as ‘extremely successful’. The Bandh was backed by 21 opposition parties.
Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait stated that "I received a phone call. Amit Shah has called a meeting, we have been called at 7 pm.”
Meeting updates to follow.
