Boris Johnson cancels visit to India

  • In a joint statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs and the British Government it was stated that British Prime Minister has cancelled his visit to India in the coming week in view of the rising Covid-19 cases.

  • In the light of the current coronavirus situation, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will not be able to travel to India next week," said the Joint statement. It further stated that PM Modi and Johnson will now instead speak later this month to agree and launch their ambitious plans for the partnership between India and the UK.

  • PM Johnson had once already cancelled his visit to India in January, when he was invited as the Guest for the Republic Day Parade, due to the rising Covid-19 cases in the UK.
