Bombay HC annoyed by frivolous plea to restrain Centre from reimposing Lockdown

  • A petitioner-in-person was today reprimanded by the Bombay High Court for filing a baseless plea seeking to bar the State from expanding or re-imposing the lockdown of COVID-19.

  • At the hearing of the plea also questioning the legality of the Infectious Diseases Act, 1897, the Bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni pulled the petitioner for wasting scarce judicial time.

  • Advocate Harshal Mirashi was asked to deposit Rs 1 lakh with the Court as protection as a pre-condition for hearing the plea.
