Bomb Blast at RIMS Hospital Ahead of Manipur Polls

  • A homemade bomb exploded inside the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal on Friday, just hours before the second and final phase of Manipur's assembly elections.

  • When the blast occurred at 9 p.m., it was discovered that expelled Manipur BJP chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy was inside the hospital grounds. Bijoy was unharmed in the explosion, but claimed that the "attack" was the result of a political scheme.

  • Two teenagers on a motorcycle were seen dumping the homemade bomb in front of the gate and fleeing the scene, according to surveillance footage. The Regional Institute of Medical Science is Manipur's largest medical institution. The event was not being investigated by the police at the time of this report.
