Blast in Assam school causes tension

  • A bomb attack damaged a school on the Assam- Mizoram border on Friday night. This led to further tension in the ongoing boundary dispute between the two states.

  • Assam officials stated that the blast was triggered by miscreants from Mizoram. The Upper Painom Lower Primary school became the second school to be damaged by bomb blast in more than two weeks.

  • Assam’s Home Secretary G.D.Tripathi stated that Central Forces have been deployed to maintain security and defuse tension.

  • The border disputes arises after Assam’s Forest Minister stated that Mizoram has occupied 1.5 km of Assam land. on the other hand, Mizos state that illegal migrants from Assam have occupied 10km of their land.
