Bihar election phase 1 sees 54% voter turnout

  • The first phase of the three phases of the Bihar elections, where voting was held in 71 constituencies across 16 districts on Wednesday, saw a voter turnout of 54.26%.

  • About 2.15 crore eligible voters casted their vote, a number which is slightly lower than that of 2015.

  • In the first phase of voting, 1,066 candidates were contesting in the polls. The polling took place across 31,371 polling booths.

  • The second phase of polling for 94 seats will be held on November 3 and the third phase for 78 seats on November 7.
