
Bihar election phase 1 sees 54% voter turnout
The first phase of the three phases of the Bihar elections, where voting was held in 71 constituencies across 16 districts on Wednesday, saw a voter turnout of 54.26%.
About 2.15 crore eligible voters casted their vote, a number which is slightly lower than that of 2015.
In the first phase of voting, 1,066 candidates were contesting in the polls. The polling took place across 31,371 polling booths.
The second phase of polling for 94 seats will be held on November 3 and the third phase for 78 seats on November 7.
