The Bihar assembly was crippled on Friday by strident opposition demonstrations accusing the Nitish Kumar government of pulling its feet on state-specific caste statistics.
Tejashwi Yadav, the main opposition, brought up the issue following the onset of deliberations at 11 a.m. with a starred inquiry.
Afterward, RJD MLA and foremost spokesperson Bhai Virendra, preceded by representatives from the Left parties, told reporters that the government was attempting to rinse its hands of the hierarchy census.
A caste survey, according to some, will bring Mandal discourse to the forefront of politics and could be an efficient instrument in the arsenal of minor parties to rebut the BJP's Hindutva.
